valentines fun facts...

For all those celebrating valentine's day (or all those who wished they were), here are some funny and interesting facts I found:
- Approximately 1 billion Valentine's Day cards are sent each year.
- In order of popularity, Valentine's Day cards are given to: teachers, children, mothers, wives, sweethearts, Koko the gorilla.
- The expression "wearing your heart on your sleeve" comes from a Valentine's Day party tradition. Young women would write their names on slips of paper to be drawn by young men. A man would then wear a woman's name on his sleeve to claim her as his valentine. (something we may have to reenact at VFC!)
- Valentine's Day, February 14 is the second most celebrated day in the United States, after December 25.
- Nearly 50 percent = Typically, the proportion of all Valentine’s Day cards purchased in the six days prior to the observance, making Valentine’s Day a procrastinator’s delight.
- 24.7 pounds = Per capita consumption of candy by Americans in 2004. Candy consumption has actually declined over the last few years; in 1997, each American gobbled or savored more than 27 pounds of candy a year.
- 146 pounds = total candy consumption the last year by one Michael Plewniak. Also equalling his total body weight. Total weight gained this year = -4. Astonishing. I call it the Little Debbie Diet. You can find my book on Amazon.
Happy Valentine's Day.
Oh yeah, one question: why does cupid always have to be naked except for his wings?

1 Comments:
cupid is the personification of love:
-vulnerable like a naked baby
-painful with his pointed arrows
-capable of flights of joy with his wings, and...
-chubby, because after you get married you gain weight (unless you're Mike Plewniak)
that's my theory anyway
